Ten Game Recap

• SUN SEP 28, 2025 • Webb’s Final Salvo Gives Giants a Sweep Sendoff Giants (4) vs Colorado Rockies (0) San Francisco, CA - Logan Webb delivered one last masterclass to close out the season, tossing 5⅓ scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and no walks as the Giants shut out the Rockies 4 to 0 to complete a sweep and finish the year at an even 81 and 81. Webb not only carved up Colorado’s lineup, but he also claimed the National League crown in both strikeouts (224) and innings pitched (207), becoming the first Giant to do so since 1944. The bats gave him just enough cushion, starting with Willy Adames launching a first pitch leadoff homer to reach the 30 home run mark, a milestone not seen in San Francisco since Barry Bonds. Rafael Devers added a solo shot of his own, and Jung Hoo Lee came through with a clutch two run single in the eighth to pad the lead. The bullpen trio of Jose Butto, Tristan Beck, and Spencer Bivens (earning his third save) locked things down with just three hits allowed in relief. The Giants may have missed the postseason, but they closed the curtain with authority, offering a season finale that felt more like a statement than a swan song. Photo: Getty Images
• SAT SEP 27, 2025 • Verlander’s Quiet Curtain Call Guides Giants to 4–3 Win Giants (4) vs Colorado Rockies (3) San Francisco, CA - In a surprisingly suspenseful closing act, Justin Verlander delivered six solid innings, issuing just one walk and fanning seven, as the Giants edged the Rockies 4–3. San Francisco broke early thanks to a second-inning three-run blast by rookie Casey Schmitt that turned the tide. Colorado answered with homers from Hunter Goodman and Brenton Doyle, but the Giants held their footing. The Rocky Mountain comeback bid was punctured when Rafael Devers smacked an RBI double in the eighth for breathing room. In the bottom of the ninth, Jordan Beck poked one out for Colorado, but relief presence Spencer Bivens slammed the door shut by retiring Warming Bernabel and sealing his second save. This clutch finish bumped the Giants to 80–81, hinging their fate on a final day triumph to salvage a .500 season. The Rockies, meanwhile, inched closer to a historically brutal campaign. • FRI SEP 26, 2025 • Giant Pulse Ignites against Rockies Giants (6) vs Colorado Rockies (3) San Francisco, CA - The Giants snapped a losing skid with a confident 6 to 3 win over the Rockies, punctuated by power and poise. Trevor McDonald mastered the mound for seven innings, fanning 10 and giving up just three runs on five hits to earn his first big league win. At the plate, Willy Adames launched a two run bomb, his 28th of the year, to open the scoring, and Heliot Ramos followed in the next frame with a three run shot that thrust San Francisco firmly in command. A late Colorado homer by Ezequiel Tovar brought some drama, but the Giants held firm thanks to a flawless finish by Ryan Walker, who closed the door with two strikeouts. Meanwhile, Matt Chapman reached a personal milestone with the 1,000th hit of his career, delivering a timely single to center. Defensively, Chapman also flashed his arm with a daring off balance throw from foul territory to nab a baserunner, reminding fans there’s more than just bats in his toolkit. The Rockies may be clawing through a dismal road record, but tonight they found the Giants unwilling to be intimidated. San Francisco’s blend of veteran moxie, rising star power, and clutch pitching reasserted why, even outside postseason contention, they remain a team worth watching. Photo: Getty Images
• WED SEP 24, 2025 • Giants Snatch Slim Revenge to End Cards’ Hopes Giants (4) vs St. Louis Cardinals (3) San Francisco, CA - It didn’t take long for San Francisco to show they weren’t dead yet, even if their playoff fate had already been sealed. After an embarrassing collapse the night before at the hands of the Cardinals, the Giants clawed back on Wednesday with a gritty 4–3 win that officially ended St. Louis’s postseason run. Rafael Devers blasted a majestic splash hit to right in the third (his 34th homer of the season) to tie things up, and later the biggest blow came from catcher Andrew Knizner, who ripped a triple in the eighth to drive in the go ahead run after Christian Koss set the table with a soft single just past Arenado’s reach. St. Louis had tied the game moments earlier when Nolan Arenado lifted a sacrifice fly, but the Giants bullpen, often their undoing, stood firm this time. Starter Sonny Gray put up six innings of solid work with seven strikeouts, three runs, and two earned before handing the ball off. Closer Tristian Beck slammed the door shut and Casey Schmitt chipped in with a three hit night to help preserve this moral victory. No postseason ticket for San Francisco, but at least they avoided a sweep and sent their former tormentors packing. Photo: Getty Images
• FRI SEP 19, 2025 • Ohtani’s Blast Ends Kershaw’s Home Finale as Dodgers Clinch Giants (3) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (6) Los Angeles, CA - Shohei Ohtani lifted the Dodgers past the Giants 6-3, delivering a towering three-run homer in the fifth that turned the tide in Los Angeles’ favor. Mookie Betts followed with a solo shot later in that same frame to balloon the lead. The Giants fought early, as Heliot Ramos opened the scoring with a massive solo home run, and Wilmer Flores gave them a 2-1 edge with an RBI single in the third. Robbie Ray, despite leaving with a 5-2 deficit, gave up four runs over 4.2 innings, taking the loss and falling to 11-8. Clayton Kershaw, in what is being treated as his home farewell, allowed two runs through 4.1 innings, struck out six but was charged with four walks as emotions and pressure mixed on the mound. Edgardo Henriquez relieved and held the Giants scoreless, with Tanner Scott sealing the deal. The Manfred-approved moment came with the Dodgers clinching a postseason berth, marking a fitting backdrop to Kershaw’s send-off. The Giants left 8 runners on base, their offense sputtering when they needed extra hits. While Ramos and the bats showed flashes, the bullpen faltered, and the playoff hopes dimmed a bit more for San Francisco. Photo: Getty Images
• THU SEP 18, 2025 • Giants’ One Hit Standoff Comes Up Short vs Dodgers Giants (1) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (2) Los Angeles, CA - The San Francisco Giants hung in there but dropped a 2-1 decision to the Los Angeles Dodgers, in a game that was more nail biter than slugfest. Giants starter Logan Webb was excellent, allowing just one hit and one earned run over seven strong innings; he struck out five and walked only one. On the other side, Yoshinobu Yamamoto nearly matched Webb, giving up a single to Patrick Bailey in the 2nd inning but then holding the Giants hitless from there, though with a troubling ten walks allowed. The difference came in the 6th, when Shohei Ohtani doubled deep to the wall, setting up Mookie Betts’ fielder’s choice and a Bailey error at catcher that allowed a run to score. Freddie Freeman followed with an RBI single to extend the lead. San Francisco scratched one back in the 7th when Rafael Devers drew a bases loaded walk, but couldn’t muster more. The Dodger bullpen, especially Alex Vesia with a clean 9th, shut the door. The loss sinks the Giants further behind in the NL Wild Card chase, while the Dodgers tightened their grip atop the NL West. • WED SEP 17, 2025 • Giants Slash the Skid with Explosive 11th-Inning Escape Giants (5) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (1) Phoenix, AZ - The Giants snapped their four-game losing streak with a dramatic 5-1 win over the Diamondbacks, breaking open a scoreless pitchers’ duel in the 11th inning. Justin Verlander delivered seven scoreless frames, scattering three hits and two walks while showing that age has done little to dull his command, while Arizona’s Brandon Pfaadt was even more dazzling, taking a one-hit shutout into the ninth but ultimately left without a decision. After ten innings of frustration, San Francisco’s offense finally cracked through when Bryce Eldridge worked a walk to start the 11th, Jerar Encarnacion followed with an RBI single, Christian Koss doubled in two more, and insurance came via a sacrifice fly from Grant McCray and a run-scoring hit by Rafael Devers. Pfaadt’s line looked like one for the record books with nine innings of one-hit ball, seven strikeouts, and only one walk, but it was wasted by an offense that never solved Verlander or the Giants bullpen. For San Francisco, the victory pushed their record to 76-76 and revived their wild-card chances, a reminder that even in a season defined by inconsistency, timely hitting and veteran pitching can still flip the script in an instant. • TUE SEP 16, 2025 • A Lead Lost Late as Diamondbacks Edge Giants Giants (5) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (6) Phoenix, AZ - The San Francisco Giants blistered out of the gates against the Arizona Diamondbacks, pounding four runs in the first inning off Eduardo Rodríguez on a flurry of five hits including a sac fly by Matt Chapman, an RBI single from Wilmer Flores, and a two run double by Jerar Encarnacion. But that promising start unraveled gradually, and by the time the ninth inning rolled around, the Giants’ bullpen had given Arizona just enough room to pounce. With the game tied and bases loaded, Jordan Lawlar scraped an infield grounder just past Ryan Walker, allowing Corbin Carroll to scamper home for the walk off winner. Arizona had earlier chipped away at the early deficit via an Adrian Del Castillo two run homer and a single from Blaze Alexander, while Carroll’s bat stayed hot with three hits on the night. For the Giants this was their fourth straight loss, and their wild card hopes took a serious hit. They now trail the Mets by three games with just over a week left in the regular season. The offensive surge in the first was inspiring, but the rest of the game exposed durability issues, especially in late game pitching, that make March seem far, far away. Photo: Getty Images
• SUN SEP 14, 2025 • Giants’ Wild Card Hopes Sputter in Dodgers Shellacking Giants (2) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (10) San Francisco, CA - The San Francisco Giants came into this matchup looking to gain ground in the tight National League Wild Card race but instead were trounced by the Los Angeles Dodgers 10 to 2. Teoscar Hernández was the star for L.A., racking up four hits in his second four hit game of the season, while Michael Conforto chipped in with three RBIs, including a two run pinch hit single that helped break the game wide open in the fifth. Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts also joined the offensive party, combining for several key hits as the Dodgers amassed 18 total. On the mound, Tyler Glasnow settled in after a rocky start with control, enduring four walks but giving up just one run over 6.2 innings to pick up the win. Robbie Ray, in contrast, had a night to forget, surrendering five runs and six hits over four and a third innings. With this loss the Giants fell to 75 and 74, slipping 1½ games behind the Mets in the Wild Card standings with just a few games remaining in the regular season. If they want October dreams, tomorrow demands more than flashes, they need full games. Photo: Getty Images
• SAT SEP 13, 2025 • Giants Let a Wild Rally Slip Away Against Dodgers Giants (7) vs Los Angeles Dodgers (13) San Francisco, CA - The Giants jumped out fast with a four-run first inning highlighted by RBI hits from Matt Chapman and Luis Matos, but the Dodgers stormed back behind Shohei Ohtani’s towering 454-foot blast for his 49th home run of the season and a relentless fifth-inning rally that completely flipped the game. Teoscar Hernández’s two-run double, Mookie Betts’ RBI single, and Ben Rortvedt’s two-run double piled on the damage against Logan Webb, who was tagged for six runs in just over four innings of work. Patrick Bailey briefly gave San Francisco life with a two-run double to close the gap, yet Los Angeles continued to tack on runs and shut down any comeback attempt. Clayton Kershaw weathered the early storm to settle in, while the Dodgers’ offense turned every mistake into fuel for a runaway win. What began as a statement inning for the Giants turned into a sobering collapse, and by the end, the Dodgers walked away with a 13-7 victory that left San Francisco trailing in the Wild Card race by half a game after letting a golden opportunity slip through their fingers.
