• WED MAY 20, 2026
Bay FC Runs Into Portland’s Wall
Bay FC (0) @ Portland Thorns FC (2)

Portland, OR - Bay FC had enough of the ball to make this match interesting, but Portland had the finishing touch, and that was the difference in a 2-0 loss that left Bay chasing the game despite several chances to tilt it back. Portland struck first in the 30th minute after a corner sequence spilled out to M.A. Vignola, who hammered a left-footed volley from distance into the top-left corner, the kind of shot that turns a half-chance into a headache. Bay FC did not disappear, winning more possession and earning eight corners, but the final pass and finishing edge never quite matched the build-up. Marie Müller nearly doubled Portland’s lead before halftime by rattling the crossbar, a warning shot Bay survived. Jordan Silkowitz helped keep Bay within reach, but Portland kept pressing and finished the job in the 77th minute when Sophia Wilson set up Mallie McKenzie for her first career NWSL goal. Bay FC finished with 13 shots, but only two landed on target, while Portland put seven of its 22 attempts on frame. The numbers told the story: Bay had moments, Portland had answers. - By Mauricio Segura

Silkowitz Slams the Door as Bay FC Sneaks Past the Wave
Bay FC (1) vs Boston Legacy FC (1)

San Jose, CA - Bay FC had the ball, the chances, and most of the pressure, but Boston Legacy FC had just enough resistance to keep the match stuck at 1-1. After a scoreless first half that tilted Bay’s way, Dorian Bailey finally punched through in the 51st minute, finishing off Bay FC’s best stretch and giving the home side the lead it had been hunting. The advantage did not hold. Boston found its equalizer in the 64th minute when Amanda Gutierres converted from the penalty spot, turning one defensive mistake into the goal that changed the feel of the match. Bay FC kept pushing from there, piling up 19 shots, nine on target, and nine corners, but Casey Murphy stood firm with eight saves and made sure Boston escaped with a point. Racheal Kundananji and Claire Hutton both had late looks, but neither could deliver the winner. For Bay FC, the draw stretched its unbeaten run to three matches, though this felt more like two points left sitting on the table than one point earned. - By Mauricio Segura

• SUN MAY 10, 2026
Silkowitz Slams the Door as Bay FC Sneaks Past the Wave
Bay FC (0) vs Utah Royals FC (0)

San Jose, CA - Bay FC picked up a gritty road win by shutting out San Diego Wave FC 1-0 behind an early strike from Racheal Kundananji and a nerve-steady performance from goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz. Bay wasted little time grabbing control when Kundananji broke through in the fifth minute after a sharp setup from Taylor Huff, sliding a one-touch finish through the keeper’s legs for her first goal of the season. That turned out to be all the offense Bay needed, but the real turning point came in the 17th minute when Silkowitz denied a penalty kick from San Diego’s Kenza Dali. The save preserved the lead and shifted the pressure squarely onto the Wave for the rest of the match. Bay’s defense absorbed heavy pressure throughout the second half and finally earned its first clean sheet of the 2026 campaign. The victory also pushed Bay FC back to an even record after a rough loss to Gotham the previous week, giving the club a much-needed spark heading into its next stretch of league play. - By Mauricio Segura

Storm Clouds Over Gotham
Bay FC (0) @ Gotham FC (3)

Harrison, NJ - Bay FC ran into a ruthless Gotham side and never found a way out in a 3-0 defeat shaped by relentless pressure and a punishing first half. An unfortunate own goal opened the scoring, then Rose Lavelle and Esther González added strikes as Gotham seized control and never loosened its grip. Bay struggled to create much going forward, but goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz delivered a remarkable performance, making a club-record 12 saves and keeping the match from turning even more lopsided. Under constant pressure, Bay spent much of the contest absorbing waves of attacks, with Gotham controlling possession and dictating tempo. One encouraging sign came with the return of Racheal Kundananji from injury, whose presence off the bench offered a glimpse of life even as Bay searched for answers. The scoreline was blunt, but it did not tell the full story. Silkowitz’s resilience gave Bay a backbone in a difficult test, and even in defeat there was a sense this was more about weathering a storm than losing direction. Sometimes growth hides in hard afternoons, and Bay left bruised, but not empty-handed. - By Mauricio Segura

Bay FC Runs Into a Wall and the Spirit Slip Through
Bay FC (0) vs Washington Spirit (2)

San Jose, CA - Bay FC spent long stretches hanging on, and Jordan Silkowitz gave them a real chance to hang around, piling up a career-high nine saves against a Washington side that controlled possession and kept firing. Bay held the line through halftime, but the match turned in the 57th minute when pressure in the box led to an own goal by Brooklyn Courtnall. Bay nearly answered right away when Alex Pfeiffer broke free and cut onto her right foot, but her shot was stopped, and that felt like the last clean opening the club was going to get. Washington kept squeezing the game, finished with a 20-6 edge in shot attempts and a 10-1 advantage in shots on target, and finally put it away in the 86th minute when substitute Gift Monday scored to seal the 2-0 result. The loss left Bay FC at 2-0-2, while the Spirit claimed their first win of the season. For Bay, the frustrating truth is simple: the goalkeeping was strong enough to keep this one within reach, but too much of the afternoon was spent surviving instead of threatening. - By Mauricio Segura

Bay FC Finds Its Bite Early
Bay FC (3) @ Carolina Courage (1)

Cary, NC - Bay FC did its best work before halftime and then showed enough backbone after the break, beating the North Carolina Courage 3-1 behind a ruthless 14-minute burst that changed the whole match. Alex Pfeiffer started it in the 20th minute with a left-footed finish, Keira Barry followed in the 30th for her first NWSL goal, and Dorian Bailey headed in Bay’s third four minutes later, giving the visitors a three-goal cushion before North Carolina could settle in. Pfeiffer was in the middle of the damage with a goal and an assist, and Bay’s attack made its chances count even in a match where possession was nearly even and corner kicks finished level at 4-4. North Carolina pushed harder in the second half and finally got one back through Manaka Matsukubo, but Bay never let the game slip into real chaos. The defense kept the Courage to just two shots on target, while Jordan Silkowitz made the one save Bay needed and Bay put seven shots on frame overall. The result moved Bay to 2-0-1 and handed North Carolina its first loss of the season. - By Mauricio Segura

Early Punch Too Much as Bay FC Falls Behind and Fights Late
Bay FC (1) vs Angel City FC (3)

San Jose, CA - Bay FC found itself chasing the match almost immediately and never fully recovered in a 3-1 loss to Angel City FC, despite a spirited push in the second half. Angel City struck early, capitalizing in the opening minutes to set the tone, then doubled its advantage before halftime with a composed finish that exposed gaps in Bay’s back line. A third goal shortly after the break put Bay FC in a steep hole, forcing urgency the rest of the way. That urgency showed when Taylor Huff cut into the deficit with a well-taken goal, assisted by Cristiana Girelli, whose debut added a noticeable spark in the attack. Bay FC pushed forward with more intent from that point, generating chances and narrowing the possession gap, but struggled to turn momentum into additional goals. Angel City remained dangerous on set pieces and maintained pressure with a steady stream of corner kicks, keeping Bay from settling into a rhythm. The match took another turn late when Huff was sent off after a second yellow card, ending any realistic hope of a comeback and leaving Bay FC to regroup after a game that slipped away early. - By Mauricio Segura

Bay FC Sets the Tone Early and Doesn’t Blink Late
Bay FC (2) vs Denver Summit FC (1)

San Jose, CA - Bay FC opened with authority and never lost its grip in a sharp 2-1 win over Denver Summit FC, showing both attacking confidence and defensive composure when it mattered most. Alex Pfeiffer wasted no time putting Bay on the board, striking in the 8th minute and immediately tilting the match in her team’s favor. Denver answered through M. Kössler in the 20th, briefly leveling the energy, but Bay responded with purpose as Joelle Anderson found the net in the 31st to restore the lead before halftime. From there, the story shifted to control. Bay dictated the tempo with a commanding share of possession and kept Denver pinned back, outshooting them by a wide margin and limiting real chances on goal. The second half wasn’t flashy, but it was disciplined, the kind of performance that quietly wins matches over a long season. Bay’s back line held firm under late pressure, and the midfield continued to manage space and pace without overextending. It wasn’t just a win, it was a statement of identity built on early aggression, steady control, and the ability to close the door when the moment demanded it. - By Mauricio Segura
