Seventeen-year-old Delilah McPhee is thrown into a new school and a fractured home life, so she retreats into the pages of her favorite fairytale where she, as a devoted reader, connects with Prince Oliver in a storybook world that seems simpler than her own. But soon the boundary between her real life and the fantasy begins to crack: Oliver reaches out, Delilah questions what is real, and the characters in the book start to feel both more familiar and more complicated than the clean lines of fiction she’s relied on. Faced with bullies, family tension and her own longing to belong, Delilah must decide whether to hide behind the story she loves or step into the messy plot of her everyday life and rewrite it on her own terms. With clever twists, music and dance weaving between two worlds, the show asks whether a story can save you, or whether we must risk leaving the book behind to live our own.
